Blokes and Spokes bike ride

mini´«Ã½ Parents’ Association Blokes and Spokes bike ride with Year 11 student, Sam Fisher, Year 3 student, Hamish Moase and Year 12 student, Sam McShane about to ride together.

Sunday 6 March saw the annual Blokes and Spokes bike ride organised by mini´«Ã½ Parents’ Association celebrate the importance of male role models and physical wellbeing. The bike ride was for all Hutchins students and their special male role model in their life, dad, grandad, uncle or a significant person.

The event saw more than 70 riders cycle along the Hobart Intercity Cycleway, with some travelling as far as MONA before returning to the Cornelian Bay start point for a well-earned BBQ.

The riders had a great time and there were plenty of stories of cycling prowess exchanged over a sausage (or four) after the ride. The weather stayed dry, but it was a bit cooler than many had expected with many calls of ‘I wished I’d worn a jumper’ heard amongst the participants and volunteers.

Many thanks to the Senior School students who manned and served the BBQ, the volunteers who stood in the brisk weather at road crossings and the Gap students who assisted with numerous duties. Without the assistance of these volunteers the event wouldn’t be possible, thank you!

Thanks also goes to  for organising the tasty sausages and to  in Sandy Bay for their extremely generous contributions towards the highly anticipated raffle. There is a dad out there who is the proud owner of a shiny new MTB helmet with a big smile on his face!
